In order to ensure safe operation of gear operated valves, Alcatraz Interlocks provides multi turn interlocks, with both single and double keys in a standardized size.
Our type DML (Double Multi turn Locks) interlocks suit on all types of gears, handwheel operated. Available in single or double key styles, locking the valve in either the open or closed position. If the double is specified, the valve can be locked in both the open and closed position. Forming part of a complete range of our process interlock safety systems. All our valve interlocks have a tailor made mounting kit that is non-intrusive to the gear or valve. When used with other Alcatraz interlocks, operators are constrained to follow the correct mechanical sequence of operation of all valves within the interlock sequence.
The Alcatraz interlock incorporates a counting mechanism, which is commissioned as standard at the factory but will require recommissioning after installation to trap and release keys at the desired gear position.
Alcatraz’ Interlocks for gear operated valves can be used in multiple situations like control valve flow, ensuring safe valve operation, safe switchover of pressure safety valve systems and operation of pig trap systems. To offer the right interlock for a gear operated valve we need to understand your application and sequence of actions. To execute this properly our dedicated team could assist you with measurement, commissioning and installation. Gear operated valves are commonly used in applications like:
Gear operated valves utilize a handwheel to operate. To lock these valves we have designed two kinds of interlocks depending on your sequence (linear or nonlinear), our engineering department will design it.

An Electrical Key Cabinet consists of integrated electromechanical components preventing key removal.
The spare keys are intended to briefly replace a lost key until a replacement has been purchased.
This is a mechanical device that is designed to fulfil client's complex non-linear Interlocking Sequence requirements.
